Origins
Mini Remastered, launched in 2017, applied David Brown Automotive's coachbuilt philosophy to the nation's favourite shape: classic Minis stripped to bare shells, de-seamed, re-engineered with modern electrics, air conditioning, infotainment and hand-trimmed interiors consuming over a thousand craft hours, priced from around 75,000 pounds — many times any original's cost. Purists gasped; customers queued, drawn by the proposition of Issigonis charm with contemporary usability. Limited editions multiplied, including performance versions with tuned A-series engines. The programme's success outgrew the Speedback itself, defining the company's business and anticipating the restomod boom that swept the decade. The Mini Remastered's insight was cultural: Britain's most democratic car, reborn as its most exclusive — and nobody could look away.
