Origins
Launched in 2015 under the SsangYong badge, the Tivoli was the struggling Korean maker's lifeline: a sharply priced subcompact crossover that caught the segment's global surge, selling strongly at home and across Europe on style, equipment and warranty rather than refinement. It carried the company through ownership turmoil — Mahindra's stewardship, court receivership — remaining the volume backbone for nearly a decade. When KG Group's 2022 rescue renamed the firm KG Mobility, the Tivoli continued under KGM badging, its longevity itself the story: one well-timed product sustaining an entire manufacturer through two ownership collapses. Few cars have carried so much corporate weight on so small a footprint. In an industry that celebrates flagships, the Tivoli is a reminder that survival is usually bought by the smallest car in the showroom.
