Origins
The Maxus EV30 of 2018 targeted the segment where Chinese EV economics closed first: the compact urban delivery van, purpose-built electric rather than converted, with payload and range matched to courier duty cycles and total-cost arithmetic that fleet accountants approved. E-commerce logistics giants absorbed thousands; export markets across Europe, South America and Oceania followed as clean-air rules tightened. Unlike the era's headline EVs it earned volume through invoices rather than launches. The EV30 documents electrification's genuine vanguard — parcels, not passengers — and SAIC's pragmatism in commercialising it early, establishing Maxus among the world's larger electric-van exporters before most legacy brands had shipped one. Electrification's real history is written in fleet depots, and the EV30 owns several chapters.
