Origins
The Dana V1 of 2024 extended Maxus's light-commercial family into its next generation: a van-based platform serving the delivery and business duty that remains the marque's foundation, in an era when Chinese LCVs increasingly launch electric-first with global export intent. SAIC's commercial-vehicle scale and established Maxus channels in Europe, Oceania and the Americas frame its mission. The V1 arrives amid the segment's structural shift — e-commerce logistics standardising on electric vans, legacy competitors racing to respond — where Maxus's early-mover volume gives it standing. Its story is being written in fleet tenders rather than headlines, which for a working van is precisely the correct genre. The vans, as ever with Maxus, are the story the passenger cars advertise.
