Origins
The Avezzano of 2017, named like its siblings for the family's Italian homeland, closed the Panoz road-car line: a two-seat coupé over the marque's bonded-aluminium architecture with composite bodywork, Ford-sourced V8 power around 430 horsepower, and hand assembly in Braselton, Georgia. A GT4 racing version campaigned in Pirelli World Challenge, keeping the road car honest and the brand on grids. Production was tiny, the price exotic, and when Don Panoz died in 2018 the operation's heart went with him; activity wound down soon after. The Avezzano thus ends a remarkable account — a pharmaceutical fortune spent building American sports cars and reviving Le Mans-style racing at home — with a machine exactly in character: obscure, sincere, and faster than its fame.
