Origins
The SR9 of 2006 was Radical's boldest reach: a full LMP2 prototype — carbon tub, sequential gearbox, Judd or AER power — built by the Peterborough firm whose business was making racing accessible, now contesting the Le Mans 24 Hours itself. Customer teams ran SR9s at La Sarthe in 2006 and 2007 against factory-supported opposition with budgets in different universes; results were honourable rather than headline, and the programme's value lay in demonstration: the company that sold track-day SR3s could engineer to the sport's premier technical rules. The SR9 experience fed back into the road-and-club range — aerodynamic understanding, structures, credibility. Few constructors have ever spanned club novice to Le Mans grid with one badge; Radical did it inside five years.
