Origins
Gerald Wiegert regained the Vector name and in 2007 showed the WX-8: a prototype hypercar claiming a monstrous supercharged V8 of up to 10 litres, four-figure horsepower and 275 mph, styled as an evolution of the familiar fighter-jet wedge. Auto-show appearances and renderings promised production; funding, as ever, was the missing component, and the WX-8 remained a single developmental car through years of announcements. It completed the marque's forty-year rhyme — beginning and ending with a spectacular one-off and a press release — and cemented Vector's true legacy: not the handful of cars delivered, but the demonstration that the American supercar dream could be sustained on willpower alone for four decades. Wiegert died in 2021, unrepentant and unmatched.
