Origins
The AGTZ Twin Tail of 2024, created with dealer-collective La Squadra, rebodies Alpine's mid-engined A110 in aluminium-and-carbon coachwork with a party trick encoded in the name: the owner chooses between two interchangeable rear sections — a truncated Kamm tail or a dramatic longtail — recalling the twin aerodynamic personalities of the 1960s A220 racers. A run of 19 cars was announced, each effectively two designs in one garage. It is coachbuilding revived as concept: the chassis untouched, the body a wardrobe. For Zagato the project extends a century-old thesis — that a great mechanical package deserves more than one suit — into an era when software updates pass for personalisation. The Twin Tail's answer is pleasingly physical: unbolt the future, bolt on the past.
