Origins
The Bao 8 of 2024 enlarged Fangchengbao's proposition: a full-size three-row off-road flagship on the DMO hybrid architecture, adding family luxury to the trail credentials and targeting the segment where Toyota's Land Cruiser mythology met China's new domestic alternatives. Technology density — from cabin silicon to terrain systems — pressed the price-value attack upward into premium territory. As with its sibling, brand consolidation under Denza's banner for export gave it the B8 identity internationally. The model confirmed BYD's segment intent: not niche experiments but a full off-road family, productionised at the group's scale and speed, aimed simultaneously at domestic pride and the global overlanding imagination. The badge changed mid-flight; the trajectory did not.
