Origins

The Aishang of 2012 entered the city-car class conventionally and found its real career electrically: the petrol original's modest sales gave way to EV versions that served Hainan's pioneering clean-island policies — the province mandating electrification ahead of the mainland — with the little Haima supplying taxi fleets and urban commuters at subsidised prices. Production ran to 2020 across both forms. The Aishang documents the provincial laboratory at work: Hainan's island geography made it China's EV test bed, and its home marque's smallest car became infrastructure. National fame never followed; policy relevance, briefly, did. Hainan's electric taxis wrote the model's real history, one airport run at a time. As a footnote to China's electrification, the little car earned its policy-paper citations honestly.
