Origins

The Rongyao of 2019 arrived weeks after Chinese courts handed Jaguar Land Rover its landmark victory: the X7 — Landwind's flagrant Evoque twin — was ordered off sale, the first such win by a foreign automaker in China and a signal moment in the country's intellectual-property maturation. Its replacement wore deliberately original styling, turbo power and the same value mission, tasked with carrying the brand past its notoriety. The market barely noticed; Landwind's moment had passed with the lawsuit that defined it. The Rongyao thus closes a genuinely historic arc — the era when copying was a viable Chinese strategy ended, legally and commercially, and this obscure SUV is its punctuation mark.
