Origins
The U9 of 2024 completed Yangwang's technology showcase: a quad-motor electric supercar whose DiSus-X suspension could bounce the car off the ground — dancing, jumping, driving on three wheels in demonstrations that saturated the internet — beneath performance credentials that later versions made brutal: track records and top-speed runs placing the U9 Xtreme among the fastest production cars ever timed. Pricing above 1.6 million yuan bought engineering spectacle no European exotic matched in kind. The U9's role transcended sales: it was BYD's declaration that Chinese engineering could define the supercar's next vocabulary rather than translate Italy's — physics as brand language, delivered airborne. The vocabulary lesson has been delivered; the translations are now Europe's problem.
