Origins

The 7X arrived in September 2024 as the SUV counterpart to the 007 saloon: a mid-size five-door crossover designed under Stefan Sielaff, with a rear motor or dual motors and all-wheel drive, on the same 800-volt architecture and cell-to-body construction as its sister car.

Design and engineering

It is the least idiosyncratic thing Zeekr has built, and that is the point. The brand made its name with a shooting brake and a luxury minivan, neither of which sells in volume outside China, while the mid-size electric SUV is the single largest segment in every market that matters. The 7X was engineered for international sale from the start, with assembly added at Tanjong Malim in Malaysia alongside the Chinese plant at Ningbo.

In production

Its headline claims are charging speed and structural safety, both drawn from Zeekr's own battery work. As a product it is conventional; as a strategic move it is the car that lets Zeekr be a full-range brand rather than a specialist one.
