Origins

The Massif has an unusual family tree. Santana Motor of Linares had built Land Rovers under licence for decades, and by the 2000s was producing the PS-10, its own development of the Series III theme. Iveco took that vehicle, had Giugiaro and its own style centre rework the exterior, fitted a three-litre Sofim diesel and a six-speed gearbox, and sold it from 2007 as the Massif.

Design and engineering

The aim was to give Iveco a proper off-road vehicle for military, forestry and utility customers, filling the gap left by the Fiat Campagnola. It came as a three- or five-door wagon, a two-door pickup and a bare chassis, with live axles and low range throughout.

In production

It did not last. Santana collapsed in 2011 and production ended with it, after which Iveco's parent group found its off-road answer in the Jeep Wrangler instead.
