01

Origins

Replacing both the EuroStar and the EuroTech in 2002, the Stralis was Iveco's long-haul and regional workhorse for the better part of twenty years. Its engines were the Cursor family — inline sixes of roughly nine, eleven and thirteen litres — and its cabs came in three heights, from a low urban day cab to the full-height Active Space sleeper.

Design and engineering

Two things set it apart. The first was gas: Iveco committed to compressed and liquefied natural gas long before its competitors treated the fuel seriously, and Stralis NP tractors gave fleets a way to cut noise and particulates on urban and regional work. The second was the Hi-Way version of 2012, which brought a redesigned cab and was named International Truck of the Year for 2013.

In production

Built in Madrid, Australia, Argentina, South Korea and Russia, it was superseded by the S-Way in 2019, though production continued into 2021 in some markets.
